I mentioned the purse already. What I was referring to with him being "punished" was the quick turnaround after a dull effort in the BC. Had he run a big race in the BC, I wonder if he would have been considered for this spot. Bob Baffert did similar with Officer in 2001 (wheeled back in one week for the Cal Cup) and arguably ruined the horse's career.

Drill's sire was one of my favorite horses ever, Lawyer Ron. LR caught my attention when he won Diamond Jo Stakes on New Year's Eve 2005 at Evangeline Downs.

Lawyer Ron was a very good horse. His double at Saratoga in the Whitney and Woodward was pretty impressive. Nearly took down the Jockey Club Gold Cup and finished fairly close in the Met Mile, too.
