To Danzig (re: the Wood) - yes, I agree historically it's no contest but while it might be a fluke, the bluegrass and spiral (or whatever they're calling it now) have had more results in the derby than the Wood since poly came into play.

it doesn't help that both i want revenge and uncle mo got hurt/sick after their wood performances. however, i'd imagine that when you take all stakes into consideration, not just the derby, that ny outshines keeneland in that regard.
keeneland only continues to hold it's graded ratings because it's keeneland, not because it's still important. keeneland is many things, but it certainly is a far cry from a championship meet. quantity of horses doesn't mean a quality field, or quality racing.
i expect keeneland to eventually switch their main track; i doubt their poly side of the business is reaping much in dividends these days. of course as long as they were trying to push that surface, they had no choice but to install it themselves. you can't exactly sell a product that you don't use.
