I have kids and so read the first 2 but then the 3rd one... that is a wonderful book / film.

I've never read or seen either series, but was shocked with how much I liked the Lord of the Rings since I didn't think it would be "my thing." I tend to convince myself that if the rest of the world is rushing out to see/read something, I'm going to hate it. Obviously I don't belong to the Opra Book Club.
It's kind of like horseys - with the exception of Rachel, my all-time favorites are usually the less respected i.e. Sightseek, Saint Liam....Jazil
