Do you know Dick Jerardi, Chuck? Seriously - half of everything he says is tongue-in-cheek. This line above would be from someone who knows NOTHING about racing, writing about it. Jerardi knows how foolish this sounds when he writes it.
"This being the race track, there are more than a few theories."
" 'There is no miracle drug,' Guerrero assured. 'They test too much.' Whatever it is, Carlos Guerrero has figured it out. It is definitely his time."
Here's the bottom line - this (seems to me to be) an article to get all the public comment out there on Guerrero. Let the insinuations be what they are, and then get all Guerrero's comments on the record...and we'll see what happens in the future.

I think you are reading far too much into this. What is Guerrero supposed to say? Yeah I hop all of them? Jerardi basically offers up multiple defenses for the guy in a general news publication. What is he supposed to say about a new ice machine? That the grooms use it to keep the beer cold? Why offer up that he has examined all the guys horses records over the last 2 years and suggests that he believes what Guerrero tells him about claiming horses that formerly had 80 beyers? Why say that his style of running horses back isnt typical of trainers using illegal drugs? Why would you write in this style when it would be very easy to point out the dubious claims to your mostly uneducated readership?
