That's why this fake outrage is so funny. The public? We're lucky if the public knows the name of the winner of the race.
People, if they even hear about this, aren't going to change their mind about the sport because of this. And it's not like we're going to lose any potential new fans or bettors because of it.
On the flip side, Hollywood Park let a horse run and eventually win a race the other day that he wasn't eligible for. That thread has gotten zero responses. I'd say something like that is far worse towards the public perception of the sport than something like this.
