The fact that you thought it was 24 to 1 means you did the math in your head. That you made the mistake happens to anybody. You knew there was a 4 in there somewhere. That you corrected someone else who got it right is the reason that I got annoyed. 1/25 = 4/100

Your situation on the affect/effect argument was basically a reversal of the odds thing. You knew the proper way to do it, someone tried to correct you, but they were wrong. You even spent time looking it up and providing sources. I just found it ironic. Alanis Morissette probably didn't as she improperly identified "irony" in a very catchy song to millions of teenagers. The point about your math skills I just made was a joke about how understanding of basic fractions is probably important when betting. 25/1, as I'm sure you know, means you'll get more money than you would if the horse was 24/1. That's all I'm saying.

While we're grammar griping, it always bugs me when people say things like "Joe and I" trying to sound sophisticated when "Joe and me" can be correct depending on the rest of the sentence.
You are an unbridled moron. 25-1 odds does not equal a 1 in 25 chance. It equals a 1 in 26 chance. By your logic, 1-1 odds would equal a 100% chance. It does not. It equals a 50% chance. 1-1 equals one chance in two. 50%.

2-1 equals one chance in three. 33%.

Thus, 24-1 would equal one chance in 25. Or 4%.

I win. Again. I didn't miss the calculator. You are dumb. Thanks.
