It is an interesting editorial, and he does make an important point. However, doesn't the figure get a whole lot easier to make when the two races before that on the card were also 6f dirt races....as was the 5th race, which was a stake featuring several veteran horses?
I was also confused by the fact that he pointed to blinkers as a possible reason that the 6th place finisher improved....even though that horse's assigned speed figure was actually one point lower than in his previous start.
