Why would they? Politifact is non-party associated, and judges claims that politicians of both parties make as true or false (or in-between), based upon the merit of the statement. The "government takeover" phrase origination was recommended as deliberate characterization useage by a GOP strategist. It certainly worked, as it is the most pervasive lie of last year
You do make the point that the point of politicians lying is to get voters to vote for them. That goes with the U Maryland study of last week that just found that Fox News viewers are the least truthfully-informed. Voters are responsible for their own education on the issues. The "low information" voter loves them some angry or scary slogans
