I've absorbed enough of the game's history since to know that he practically owned the '80s, won four Kentucky Derbies, was the face of horseracing, etc. He was the most successful trainer out there. What happened in between? How did he become (relatively, to what he was) such complete horse$hit? Why are so many people seemingly happy about his fall from the top?

I've got so many questions...

Like: What is the correct way to spell the plural of "Derby?" Is it derbies or derbys? Neither one looks right to me for some reason.

Others can likely state more accurately, but I think there is often a feeling his 1980's success came by smart usage of meds. .

For those established fans watching thoroughbred racing real time in the 1980's the media fawning over Lukas and family may have been a bit much. Kinda like the reason most people besides Yankees fans hate the Yankees.
