calvin, to quote forrest gump, isn't an educated man. but he's not a stupid man. he told another jock yesterday that he had learned from this horse in the second at oaklawn, namely that the horse could run off the pace. the other jock had expected him to be on/very near the lead yesterday, but calvin assured him that wasn't going to happen. calvin is a good rider, his ability to get rachel to relax when she enjoyed running off with exercise riders was noted more than once. he knows he made a premature move last year in new york. he won't do that again.
ought to be interesting. i'm not saying this horse will absolutely win the t.c., but he certainly has a shot, and he has the right rider. if he loses, it won't be calvins fault.

If he gets to the Belmont with a shot, maybe he should consider riding a couple of races just for s.hits and giggles.
