He definitely was reliable, as he won close to 1/3 of his career starts. Bret Thomas trained Zarb's Magic to win the 1996 Arkansas Derby, and that was a career year for the young trainer, as he also won the New Orleans Handicap with the La-bred Scott's Scoundrel.
Keith Desormeaux took Zarb's Magic for 15k at LaD when he was a 7yo. Louie Roussel claimed him for $10k a few months later at FG, and Zarb's Magic went on a tear for Louie and Ronnie Lamarque.
I see that Zarb's Magic is still tied with Sheckey Greene for the 5f real dirt record at AP. Zarb's Magic tied the record when he was 9.
