Error in Maker's Mark/Blue Grass Double Wager
By Blood-Horse Staff
Citing "human error," Keeneland announced late April 9 that the pool for the Maker’s Mark/Toyota Blue Grass Stakes double wager did not close at the proper time, inadvertently allowing additional wagers into the pool.
"Keeneland officials are working this evening with its simulcast partners to identify tickets that need to be removed from the pool," the release said. As a result of the error, Keeneland will release an adjusted pool and possible payoffs early Saturday, April 10. Karelian won the Maker’s Mark Mile (gr. IT) Friday.
"Keeneland is working with the Kentucky Racing Commission to ensure the integrity of the wagering process and that Keeneland maintains compliance with state wagering regulations," according to the announcement. In a statement from the track, Keeneland mutuels director Robert Butcher said, "We regret that the situation occurred and apologize for any inconvenience to our patrons."
