[Star of the North]

Went to the inaugural Keeneland 2yo sale in 1994 and marked down a couple that looked like future winners. A buddy and I agreed the Wild Again colt purchased by Dogwood for $105K looked like a good one.

We had to bet him through the Sam Houston pools at our local racetrack because our track didn't take the New York signal at that time. Wild Escapade won the Hopeful at a long price after being hustled into a short field at the draw.

Back then, we didn't run into many that were doing this kind of homework, which is a long way of saying after reading some of these posts, it's a wonder I ever cashed a ticket at any kind of price.
