that entire article is nothing but speculation. as for deploying to the gulf, we've had ships in the gulf for years, including minesweepers. my husband was in the gulf way back in '86. funny, don't recall any war talk then, but where would these writers be if they couldn't get a series of dots and try to connect them?
also, tony had been on the nimitz, another aircraft carrier. they deploy about every three years, as well as their strike group. it's routine. no carrier leaves for a cruise without all those support ships. and how else keep your forces ready than to go out and do what they do? this article is laughable! we have had carrier groups deployed all over, for years, when one group comes home, another is there to take its place. those groups generally deploy for about six months. when he was on the nimitz, they went on a six month 'med cruise'. that's what they do. matter of fact, we have a carrier group in the gulf NOW, and of course that would mean we are off the coast of iran NOW, so why not bomb them NOW? ridiculous assertions in this article.
jim webb is the only one of the three quoted who is absolutely correct! ships do routinely move in and out of that region.
