Super Saver went two turns in a Grade 2 stake next out - got no pressure - and sailed to a 5 length win.

How far a horse like that will go boils down to pace and pressure. A one-turn mile can be a pretty demanding distance for a 2yo in Oct if they're asked to run pretty hard the whole way.

Looking at his breeding ... I don't see why he has to be a sprinter. His sire was most effective at 10fs - his dam ran by far the best race of her life at 10fs - his half bro by sprinter Forestry - could stay well enough to bury a field at 9fs in the UAE Derby in just career start #3 that included names like Sympatico Bribon, Invasor, and Well Armed. Yeah, the big names all ran off races - but the time was outstanding and he effortlessly drew off.

Watching Discreetly Mine's maiden win - that's a horse who showed to me that he can relax and finish up strong when allowed to relax. Very few Mineshaft's are better sprinters than routers .. and I've seen nothing in his races to suggest he won't be atleast just as good routing as sprinting.
I loved his sire, so believe me I hope that DM can go long. Thanks for explaining your rationale; I'm looking forward to January 9th already.....
