I had DirecTV for over 10 years. Just cancelled this fall and went with Verizon Fios to get HRTV.
I never had an issue with them and when I cancelled, I had no fees or problems. I just had to dodge the girl that kept asking why I was cancelling. I didn't want to tell her we were going with a different service because I knew that would set off the offers and the badmouthing of the new company. I just told her we were no longer going to watch TV.
