Urban Meyer walked into a team that was ready to win. Ron Zook and company had bought quite a nice stock of athletes in the years between meyer and the head ball coach. They never missed a beat.
Alabama on the other hand wasnt getting nearly the same haul before Saban arrived. It takes a few years to really turn it around and we will see in the next couple of years a Bama squad that will perenially contend.
You want to talk about coaching and the last time they met, Saban took a bama team that was a ten point dog into the second half with a lead before they were eventually worn down by a deeper more talented squad. Coaching only goes so far.

then explain the utah game to me, totally unprepared and totally outschemed , and his defense his bread and butter could not stop the spread offense ---you guys can talk all you want about how the kids didn't want to play the game , didn't want to be there , the OL who screwed up before the game with the agent and couldn't play ..... the defense was swiss cheese , saban didn't have the team ready to play and had no answer for the spread offense , where was the defensive genius that night ???? this all from a team from the lowly mountain west confernece which would have maybe won a about 3 games in the sec....you can't convince me the weren't trying in that game
