DRF CLOSER LOOK by BRIAN POCHMAN
Kickin N Screamin
Capable barn has shown up with two live starters at this meeting, and it appears that they have a contender signed on for this contest as this filly looks like a good fit at this 7.5K claiming level; she's had success over synthetic surfaces, and she seems to be suited nicely for 7f to 1m.
Exclusive Hopper
Not sure what to make of this nine-year-old mare while getting ready to make her first start over a synthetic surface, and she has won just once in her last 17 starts going back through 2008, but can't help but feel that this barn has her ready to run a good one to show up with her here; third finisher from latest returned to win next-out at ElP on 9/7 going 5 1/2f to vs. 20-17.5K claimers with a 58 Beyer.
Silver Doll
She made her synthetic surface racing debut a winning one when last seen, but she's needed to take some time off since that performance, and it doesn't look like it's going to prove to be an easy task to be involved in the early running in here and keep something in reserve for the stretch run.
Whispering Heat
She showed up with a decent performance at RD two starts back, but that type of race hasn't been the norm for her lately, and she can't afford to show up with anything less than a top try if she's going to make some noise in here.
Beckley
This filly has recorded a solid race record from 19 starts over synthetic surfaces, and perhaps the drop to the 7.5K claiming level is just what she's looking for; however, her recent form does raise a question or two, and she's yet to finish in the top three from three starts over this surface.
Love You Crazy
This mare is out of a multiple stakes winning dam, and it's interesting to see that she gets a rider switch to Martinez for this as he's had success riding for this outfit; winner from latest returned to win next-out at Mnr on 10/19 going 6f vs. 15-13K claimers with a 68 Beyer.
Connie's June Moon
After seeing the sharp improvement she showed in her first start over turf in her most recent outing it's a little shocking to see her entered over a synthetic surface today, and the winner from her latest race returned to win next-out at KD on 9/28 going 1m over turf vs. 10-9K claimers with a 76 Beyer.
Serenity Lake
Even though she has raced alright in her two most recent races, its still tough not to notice the decline in form since exiting the Pierce barn, and she is going to need to improve upon her recent form in order to threaten these.
Gold Crop
If you can excuse her most recent race, her two starts prior to that were solid enough to suggest that she can compete with these, and this mare owns the type of tactical speed that can be very useful at today's seven furlong distance.
Illuminique
Perhaps she needs to be racing over a dirt surface to be at her best, but this is a mare who has won 11 of 35 career starts, and she's 2-for-2 at today's distance; she's not at the top of the list, but not willing to count her out of it either.
Echoes Resounding
There isn't any questioning that this filly is on top of her game right now and this looks like a sensible spot for her to land in after making it look easy against 5K N3L claimers in her latest outing at TP; she's to be respected in here.
Heavenly Surprise
This mare is the only one in here who can boast of having a victory at this venue, and she's proven to be a tough one to keep out of the mix in 2009 with nine top three finishes from 13 starts; she gets a rider switch to Albarado for this and note that he won with her the last time he was aboard.
