As I heard Mr. D say, what happened to Rene and Mike was because of race riding, the horses did not break down. You can't control clipped heels or a heart attack.

Geesh - just passing along what a trainer on the backside told me today when I called him and asked about it. He was the one that said Mike's horse had a heart attack. Mr. D saying the same thing, apparently.
