He hates what America represents, he hates the qualities of America that I think are it's best assets. just like the Harvard types, just like his racist pal and liberation theology disciple reverend Wright, just like his mentor the communist Frank Marshall Davis, just like Bill Ayers the domestic terrorist, just like his soulmate and comrade Hugo Chavez, they all despise what America stands for. you don't see the hate, you only see the smooth exterior, but its there if you pay attention to what has been said and done.
so yes, he's motivated by his arrogance to think he can make America into something good, merely by the power of his personality.
