...in the 8th race Brandon Whitacre rode #10, Become My Hero to victory. The odds were 7-1 against him but Hero fought hard to win. The jockey put him in the winners circle and the connections gathered around for the winner's photo.
They were high fiving, smiling and shaking hands. Brandon's fist pumped in the air at least three times as he grinned ear to ear.
They take the picture and Whitacre bends down and gives his mount a big kiss on the neck. However they are not done as another picture is requested. After the flash he jumps down, removes his tack and starts to walk away. He stops, turns back one more time and gives his friend one more pat on the back for his hard work.
This wasn't a big race featuring great horses. It was a 15k claimer. That was a great moment. I like that. Kudos to you Mr. Whitacre.
