you guys are nuts if you think Da Tara is a better horse than Commendable or Sarava.
I'd say Da Tara is the worst from that list. He's 2-for-14 lifetime without ever having run a triple digit Beyer.
I'd say Jazil is easily 2nd worst. He was 2-for-11 lifetime and his only triple digit figure ever (a 102) came in a last to first pace collapse in a Belmont Stakes that was put on a silver platter for him.
The tough one is trying to decide who is worse between Commendable and Sarava.
Commenable was a halfway promising 2yo who easily broke his maiden at Del Mar on debut - and than ran 4th in the Del Mar futurity behind three buzzsaws in Forest Camp, Dixie Union, and Captain Steve.
In his final 3 Derby Preps .. He was beaten only a length by War Chant in the San Rafeal, only 3.75 lengths by Fusaichi Pegasus in the San Felipe, and only 3 lengths by Unshaded in the Lexington.
So he wasn't disgraced by that years Santa Anita Derby winner, Kentucky Derby winner, and Travers winner.
He ran like a Lukas horse that was pushed too hard to make the Derby when 17th. Skipped the Preakness and beat Aptitude and Unshaded in the Belmont.
He finished his career with a 3rd in the Travers and a 105 Beyer 2nd to Tiznow in the Super Derby.
Yes he was only 2-for-12 .. but he gave a good account of himself in every race but the Haskell and Derby - and he faced some real horses.
As for Sarava, while he was disgracefully bad for the majority of his career - he is the only one of the four to win more than 2 lifetime races .. and his good race was better than the good race for the other 3.
He beat Madaglia D' Oro in the Belmont - and as a 4yo he ran Beyers of 109 and 110 back to back when beaten a length by Peace Rules in the Suburban and 2.25 lengths by Roses in May in the Whitney.
