Go on my son:
from racingpost!
HUNGARIAN sprinting sensation Overdose started 2009 where he left off 2008 when the ‘Budapest Bullet’ blitzed his rivals with an eight-length victory on his seasonal debut at home at Kincsem Park on Sunday.
Ridden by Christophe Soumillon, who has committed to ride him all season, the four-year-old son of Starborough received a standing ovation as he took his unbeaten record to 12 with a comfortable success inthe OTP Hungarian Nagydij (Hungarian Grand Prix).
Soumillon sent Overdose to the front after two furlongs and he was soon in complete command against overmatched rivals in the 7m forint (£21,000 event) – a smallfortune by the standards of Hungarian racing.
Amid jubilant scenes among a crowd of about 20,000 – the highest for 36 years - Overdose won easily from Spinning Crystal, to whom he was conceding 13lb.
Connections were relieved to get Overdose’s first race of the year out of the way and he will now travel to Britain, where his first objective is the Temple Stakes at Haydock before Royal Ascot.
