We own two 2YO NY Bred fillies and it has been quite the roller coaster as i was told it might be owning these young horses. One (A Good and Tough filly) has a stifle condition and is basically out of action to next March.
THe second the City Zip filly was a late foal and we sent her to The Finger Lakes in May. The trainer sent her back after six weeks as she was showing signs of developing shin splints. Happily, after a few weeks of rest and growing she will be put back in training at the farm tomorrow. Hopefully, if all goes well she gets shipped to Carlos in about six weeks. I just pray that we can get her to the track in about six weeks and get one or two races in her by year-end. We are hoping she does well at the Aqueduct Winter meet where speed is a premium and because she is by City Zip and am told she can run a little bit. That said, given all that can go wrong with these fragile animals, i will be just happy to see her make it to the races.
