you're right-but there's no reason to automatically assume the males were better, based mainly on the fact they are males-i don't think anyone can say definitively that the males are automatically the better group year in and year out. by the same token, i said zenyatta shouldn't get hoy-since they didn't attempt open competition with her. that would have answered the question for sure.
