Queen to have first runner at Nad Al Sheba
By Jason Ford 12.23PM 27 JAN 2009
THE Queen will have her first UAE runner on Thursday, when the Andrew Balding-trained Banknote lines up in the 1m turf handicap which concludes a seven-race card at Nad Al Sheba
The seven-year-old entire son of Zafonic, a Group 3 winner in Germany in 2007, won at Lingfield just before Christmas when beating Philario.
Franny Norton, in the saddle then, retains the partnership and the horse looked in great shape when working on the Nad Al Sheba turf course on Saturday morning.
He is set to face the maximum 15 rivals, including theAlan Jarvis-trained Wise Dennis, who was a dual carnival winner last year. He also worked on Saturday under regular local partner Ted Durcan.
Kevin Manning will partner the Jim Bolger-trained Akua'Ba in the same race, in which Saeed Bin Suroor saddles River Tiber
