the black type is only a part of the equation-you have restricted racing worth more purse money than graded racing-how does that make sense?
the donn is an open, graded stakes worth 500k-if you didn't have the sunshine millions classic, and put that purse money towards the donn, you'd have the money up for grabs that you say people need (cash now) as well as the black type for said horses future. those who placed/showed would get a bigger amount as well, as well as the 'placed in' tag.
moves like that would seemingly produce a better field than einstein, kip and who knows who else.
i've seen complaints for years on here and elsewhere, about the lack of depth in fields, about there being too many stakes up for grabs-this would solve both those issues.
