Handicapping is one thing. Tough enough game as it is. The game of claiming horses, figuring out whether or not a horse belongs, the "spot" or "drop", where he belongs when he's in someone else's barn, etc. -- all of that is a game of mental masturbation, and you can go 'round and 'round and it just keeps getting worse. When I claim horses, and I know who I am claiming from, I always know how the other guy (or gal) plays the game. Where they drop, why, when, where they protect, do they go in for the low price, and so on. And, no matter how much you know -- you just go 'round and 'round, and, it just keeps getting worse, LOL.

I am with claiming horse trainers. Guys who live and breathe this game, everyday. Same mental masturbation, over and over again. The state-bred races come up all over the board. Sometimes they are salty, sometimes not. I've seen horses leave the condition and end up all over the board. No rule there.

Some people race horses where they can win. Others don't. It's just that simple. Doesn't help with the game of mental masturbation though, LOL.
