FOUR ADDED TO ALREADY DEEP FIELD FOR SATURDAY’S PALOMAR

The addition of Island Fashion, Mea Domina, Round Heels and Star Parade assures a full gate for Saturday’s 54th running of the Grade II, $200,000 Palomar Breeders’ Cup Handicap at 1 1/16 miles on the Jimmy Durante Turf Course. Island Fashion, a $2-million earner in her career, was last seen finishing third, beaten a nose and a neck in Del Mar’s Grade I, $400,000 John C. Mabee Handicap.

Ahead of her in the 1 1/8-mile race were Dancing Edie and Moscow Burning in a blanket finish. Jon Court has the call in the Palomar.

Mea Domina and Star Parade both are multiple stakes winners, with the latter banking $1.2 million and the former putting forth a creditable third-place finish in Del Mar’s Osunitas Handicap in her first start of the year after a nine-month layoff. Tyler Baze rides Mea Domina and Martin Pedroza has the call on Star Parade.

The Irish-bred Round Heels is yet to win in three starts in the United States after racing 12 times in France. In the irons will be David Flores.

The quartet joins these six who were committed earlier: Amorama, with Corey Nakatani; Bond Deal, Jose Valdivia, Jr.; Moscow Burning, Norberto Arroyo, Jr.; Shining Energy, Victor Espinoza, and the Patrick Gallagher-trained duo of Singalong and Three Degrees, with no riders named yet.

In 5-fulong turf works today, Moscow Burning went 1:01 flat, Bond Deal 1:01.80; Three Degrees 1:04 flat, and Singalong 1:04.40. Amorama worked 5 furlongs on the main track in 1:01.40.
Moscow Burning is not running. Sharp Lisa and Berbatim are expected to run. Sharp Lisa has been supplemented.
