Joel Cunningham named new managing editor of Wire to Wire
OCALA, Fla., Aug. 15 – Joel Cunningham, former racing information manager for Churchill Downs Inc., has been named managing editor of Wire to Wire, Florida’s Daily Racing Digest.
Cunningham comes to Wire to Wire with 10 years of experience in the Thoroughbred industry. He is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe where he earned a Bachelors of Arts in marketing.
“We are excited to have Joel as part of our team. His knowledge of the Thoroughbred industry should continue to increase the quality of Florida Equine Publications,” said Michael Compton, editor-in-chief of the racing publication.
He recieved his first career position within the Thoroughbred industry straight out of college when he was named assistant director of publicity at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans.
“From the breeding sheds to the sales rings and to the racetracks, the Thoroughbred industry in Florida is a fundamental staple to this cherished pastime. Ocala is one of the more desirable places that anyone in the Thoroughbred industry could wish to be, and I am thrilled to be able to direct my energy and passion for horse racing toward serving the Florida horsemen on a daily basis,” Cunningham said.
