Kentucky, he was my Derby pick because I'm a sucker for the iron horses-- I loved that he ran so often and I think he's a real fighter who always gives it his best. I'm so thrilled he's back and am already daydreaming that he'll be back in '07 and be a graded winner at 4, too. He wasn't graded as a two-year-old, right?

He was my derby pick too and I have stuck with him through thick and thin even when most others called him overrated after his poor Derby performance. I absolutely love horses like him and Lava Man. No, he wasn't a graded stakes winner as a two year old. Back then, they were running him on the turf which he didn't take to. He turned into quite the runner when they switched him to the dirt. I think his Derby was misleading because he obviously didn't fire his best shot that day. I really think he was hurting and that is why he had surgery immediately after the Derby. It really is nice to have him back showing the world just what a runner and a fighter he is. He kind of reminds me of Afleet Alex for some reason. It may be that determination...I just can't quite put my finger on it. I think that he will improve with every start and may even be a late bloomer. His BSF was quite good in the St. Louis Derby.
