Just had a root canal and crown done this past summer on a broken tooth. I have no dental insurance, so it went right to the credit card, about $2300 or so. Perhaps CT is more. I do know that without insurance, your base price is much higher without a volume discount.
I went to a root canal specialist for the procedure and my regular dentist for the initial visit and two visits to get the crown done after the root canal. There was a little bit of soreness the first few days after the root canal and about a day after the crown was placed, but nothing major. I had a lot of novacaine (sp?) for the root canal, which made the procedure pain free, but I wouldn't reccommend doing anything in public at least a few hours after. You will look pretty strange.
