8/24: Saratoga (Ballerina Day)
Travers Day was wild and entertaining and lucrative for those negotiating the deep fields and also-eligibles that invaded them to the tune of $60 and $170 win mutuels on Missinglisalewis and Slambino. The upset of heavily favored Indyanne in the Victory Ride, coupled with Shakis' and Visionaire's squarely-priced scores in the Baruch and King's Bishop, set the stage for an intensely enjoyable Travers stretch matchup between WinStar's Colonel John and Will Farish's Mambo in Seattle. In a photo many thought appeared a dead heat, Eion Harty and his heralded colt edged Neil Howard who ran 2nd in this famed event for the second consecutive year. It was a memorable day, though I offered little in the way a help for you at the windows. Hope you did OK despite may poor results and inability to add post-scratch changes.
