Being elected to six senate terms in a Democrat state is not the same as being center stage as a VP candidate. Obama needed to bring independent voters onto his side. Picking Biden as his VP certainly will not do that. McCain is a moderate Republican who appeals to moderate Dems. Obama added someone to his ticket who may be more Liberal than he.
