Reasons why they just couldn't resist giving him 34 mil:
1)Was hitting .225 or something like that.
2) Nobody else really wanted him.
3) Showed signs of reduced production as he was getting older.
4) His previous team didn't want him.
5) Previous manager had problems with the guy's hustle etc.
6) Player's father was once quoted as saying something to the effect of " play hard, but don't play too hard."
