after years of cutbacks, the times most recent layoffs/buyouts included bill christine and larry stewart, the only reporters still covering racing.
they aren't even running result charts at del mar after having previously eliminated running the entries.
the only coverage is an occasional story by sports editor bill dwyer.
the writing's been on the wall for a long time but for someone like me that grew up reading jim murray in the times, this is still a bit jaw dropping.
