He could very easily quit over the Del Mar surface and develop poor form.
However the owners already shipped this horse who may be the current horse most likely to win the BC Classic to Oaklawn to run on that surface, so I doubt he will skip anything.
Heatseeker could also get dusted in the Gold Cup and the point would be almost moot.
