It wouldn't be shocking to hear that he is no longer in the country. One of the saddest stories of the last 5 years has been the unraveling of his talent and person. Active addiction is a terrible killer of individuals, families and generations connected with them. The ways people suffer as a consequence of this disease cannot be quantified or accounted for because the personality disorder though devastating has no cure or effective treatment.
It is the most humbling entity to treat for a physician because the clinician cannot cure or curb the expression of the disease like we are used to directing our therapy. There is no antibiotic for the infection of addiction.
As a care giver you just watch the infected decay and ruin all around them that care....very very sad but not something solvable by anyone but those that have it.
