Wagering on the 1992 Derby, he liked Lil E Tee and was hoping the Pat Day could get his first Derby win. In those days, Capital OTB wager pools were not co-mingled with Churchill Downs...so for his $2 wager on Lil E Tee at Capital got him back $56.80 instead of what it payed on track ($35.60) I know it wasn't much more, but dad who was a $2 bettor thought it was great! At the Spa, he always tried to beat Cordero because everybody loved to bet him, but when he started to be "down" for the day with his wagers, he would jump on the bandwagon

When dad wagered... he covered all the bases, he'd win a little and always be happy. It was never a "bad day" at the track for dad.
