Coolmore jumps stallion Saddlers' Hall dies at 20

THE dual-purpose stallion Saddlers' Hall died at the weekend from a heart attack after covering a mare, writesAmy Bennett.
The son of Sadler's Wells was 20 and had been standing at the Grange Stud, a branch of Coolmore's National Hunt division, for e3,500 this season.
Sire of top Flat performers such as St Leger winner Silver Patriarch and dual Group 1 winner Endless Hall, he was also responsible for the high-class hurdlers Teaatral and Topacio, smart chaser Abragante, Grade 1 bumper winner Mick The Man, and Cheltenham Festival winners Old Benny and Creon.
Saddlers' Hall, a half-brother to the outstanding Sun Princess, was himself an extremely talented performer. Trained by Sir Michael Stoute for Lord Weinstock, he finished second in theSt Legerand was an easy winner of the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.
He enjoyed an excellent season at four, winning both the Ormonde and John Porter Stakes by ten lengths, and also won the Coronation Cup and Princess of Wales's Stakes.
He began his stud career in Newmarket at Cheveley Park Stud in 1993, and transferred to Coolmore's Castlehyde in 2000.
