I don't know, but if I had to guess I would say that the owners of Keyed Entry were more responsible than Pletcher. That horse had already proven that he wanted no part of 9f, let alone 10....and he had no business in the Derby. My guess would be that the owners wanted to take a shot.
As for SinMin, I can't really blame his connections for taking a shot. Sure, most of us knew that the horse had no chance running 10f away from Keeneland, but if I had a horse that won a major Derby prep THAT impressively (no matter what track it was on) I think it would be pretty difficult to skip the Derby. And there too, Baffert kept saying that the horse was fried, so I bet the owners were the ones who really wanted to run him there.
