Even with the stamina on top - he didn't exactly have a 12 furlong pedigree - and though he lossed both career starts at 12 furlongs...he did seem to do it with valid trip excuses to his defense.

Valid excuses were something he never needed between the distances of 7 furlongs and 10 furlongs - going 24-for-24 with 14 Grade 1 wins - setting or equaling 8 track records - and having 23 of those 24 wins coming by margins of 1.5 lengths or greater.
