There was no way in the world that we would have paid Aarow all that money, only to open up the wallet again for Ryan Howard. He would have seen Rowand's contract and said to himself, "If they are paying him x amount of dollars, then I should at least be worth XXXX amount of dollars." It wouldnt have been a good situation.
Besides, I like the man and all, for he ran through a wall for us, but the odds of Rowand having that type of year again is marginal. He is a true ball player for sure, but now that he got his payday, and is not playing in a contract year, I look for his stats to regress this upcoming season.
Only my biased opinion of course.
Cannon, thoughts on the signing of Jenkins??
totall agree on Rowand, however signing Jenkins will not help your team. I have seen Geoff over the years and I was counting the days until his contract was over. He plays decent defense and has a good arm, but he will definitely strike out more times than not. I can't tell you how many times I watched him strike out with runners in scoring position and all he needed to do was make contact with the ball. I personally would not want him on the brewers this year for the league minimum. Just my very biased opinion
