I agree, it's a stretch. Compare it to the price that Rowand was demanding, and it makes sense.
There was no way in the world that we would have paid Aarow all that money, only to open up the wallet again for Ryan Howard. He would have seen Rowand's contract and said to himself, "If they are paying him x amount of dollars, then I should at least be worth XXXX amount of dollars." It wouldnt have been a good situation.
Besides, I like the man and all, for he ran through a wall for us, but the odds of Rowand having that type of year again is marginal. He is a true ball player for sure, but now that he got his payday, and is not playing in a contract year, I look for his stats to regress this upcoming season.
Only my biased opinion of course.
