Lake was a 40's "It" girl who made the Peek-a-Boo haircut a sensation... Best remembered for starring with Alan Ladd in classic Noir films "The Blue Dahlia" (Chandler) and "The Glass Key" (Hammett). Also was wonderful opposite Joel McCrae in the very important and influential Preston Sturgis oeuvre "Sullivan's Travels".

Gene Tierney was a dark and mysterious star whose portrayal of obsession in "Leave to Her Heaven" is one of the most frighteningly evil screen performances ever. You will not believe the character or the performance. She exploded as a film star in "Belle Starr" in the early 40's and will forver be remembered as "Laura", the title role in Otto Preminger's brilliant mystery, also a tale of obsession, with Dana Andrews and Clifton Webb. Interestingly, Vincent Price has medium-sized co-starring roles in both Laura and Leave Her to Heaven.

As it happens, both Tierney and Lake had sad endings to their careers and later lives.
