Tap team target 2008 DWC
Dubai World Cup runner-up Premium Tap will attempt to go one better in March 2008, after connections revealed his plans for the season.
Previously in the care of Jon Kimmel, the American import was bought by Saudi Arabia King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and his sons earlier this year, and is now trained by Saudi-based Julio Gardel, who trained Adil to finish third in the 2007 UAE Derby.
Following his win in the one-mile Almadinah Almonawarah Gov. Cup by 1 1/4 lengths on Sept. 14, Frank McGovern, general manager for the owners, said: “Premium Tap has done well over the summer and we were happy with his race which was a gentle re-introduction to racing in Riyadh.
“His main goals are the Crown Prince Cup in early December 2007, the King’s Cup late January 2008 (both in Saudi), and then the Dubai World Cup.
“As it is a long campaign we are keen to ensure that he is not ‘peaked’ too early,” he added.
