Well, he ran in one stakes race and did quite well, but I blamed his trainer (Steve Penrod, I think) for spotting him poorly. After all sprints, they run him against Perfect Drift in the Washington Park Handicap at two turns.....huh? AT the time, PD was really good- that as just a bad spot for Flatter; I really wanted him to get a stakes win and would have preferred a more realistic spot (assuming he'd work his way up the ladder). Of course, I figured Flatter would win many stakes, but he injured himself......they tried to bring him back, but to no avail. Now that was a frustrating horse to follow.
