I am pretty sure LT still would have won. She ran the opening quarter in :22 flat anyway, so I'm not sure that Featherbed being in the race would have changed things THAT much. LT was able to relax a bit in the second quarter, which she probably wouldn't have been able to do if your girl had been in there, so that would have made a difference, but I doubt if it would have made an 11-length difference.
I really don't understand what you are talking about with the Giacomo reference. Are you just suggesting that when the pace is suicidal up front less talented closers can sometimes pick up the pieces as he did in the '05 Derby? If so, nobody would disagree with you there, but I don't think it is an apt comparison. That race had a designated rabbit and was 10f. Featherbed was not a rabbit, the race was at 6f instead of 10f, and Giacomo won by a neck while LT won by 11 lengths.
