I thought Perfect Drift might have been the morning line favorite for the Breeders Cup Classic during his 4yo season....I went back and checked and he was the 2nd choice.

BREEDERS' CUP CLASSIC - POWERED BY DODGE
Total Purse: $4 million; 1 1/4 miles
Post Horse Jockey Trainer M/L Odds
1 Evening Attire J. Velazquez Patrick J. Kelly 15-1
2 Pleasantly Perfect A. Solis Richard E. Mandella 10-1
3 Volponi J. Santos Phillip G. Johnson 15-1
4 Funny Cide J. Krone Barclay Tagg 8-1
5 Hold That Tiger E. Prado Aidan P. O'Brien 12-1
6 Dynever C. Nakatani Christophe Clement 15-1
7 Perfect Drift G. Stevens Murray W. Johnson 7-2
8 Medaglia d'Oro J. Bailey Robert J. Frankel 3-1
9 Congaree P. Velenzuela Bob Baffert 6-1
10 Ten Most Wanted P. Day Wallace Dollase 4-1

That's a pretty decent field right there...even without Mineshaft. If people remember back to 2003---Murray Johnson kept saying he was going to skip the Breeders Cup and run Perfect Drift in the Melbourne Cup instead.

To me, that was pure insanity on his part.
