All three died very shortly after delivering career defying performances. I also am skeptical that Left Bank died from laminitis and would love to see a news story backing that up.

Nobody is accusing anybody of anything. It's just a tragic coincidence. The performance of Freedom's Daughter in the Adirondack was really something to behold...especially in light of her previous mediocre efforts. Sad, really sad, to see a horse so clearly on the brink of greatness die so young. Warners too. After his exciting debut he really disappointed in subsequent efforts before delivering his pp defying performance ( some may remember the HUGE wager that dropped his odds as the gate popped on that Saturday at Saratoga ). And, worst of all, Left Bank, the sprinter who rated behind a loose speed in the Whitney, and still drew off to defeat Street Cry ( fresh off his drubbing of Congaree in the Steven Foster where he earned a 122 Beyer fig ) and Lido Palace. He was always one of my favorites. In fact, I had needed him for a score in his previous two turn effort, over two years earlier, when he got drowned by a Mitch Friedman horse ( Oracle help me out here ) at Gulfstream.

A sad coincidence.
